DRAFTING, BLENDING & PLYING
This intensive multi-day spinning workshop is 
designed to elevate your fiber artistry. We'll delve 
deep into the fundamentals and nuances of drafting, 
exploring both short draw for fine, strong yarns and 
long draw for airy, woolen styles. Explore the art of 
plying, learning the classic 2-ply method for balanced 
yarns and the captivating chain plying technique for 
unique textures and self-striping effects. Finally, 
unleash your creativity with a dedicated session on 
blending, where you'll discover the magic of the 
blending board to create custom colorways and fiber 
preparations, transforming raw materials into 
personalized spinning treasures.

Weekend: Barn Quilt Retreat

Immerse yourself in a full weekend of geometric beauty and tactile artistry. This retreat combines the bold, architectural tradition of Barn Quilt Painting with the soft, intricate craft of Needle Felting. Whether you are wielding a paintbrush or a felting needle, you’ll spend three days surrounded by the historic charm of the Nome Schoolhouse, enjoying chef-curated meals and a community of fellow creators. Led by artists Chris Armbrust and Karin Baker, the retreat will be a new look at artistic innovation.

Join us for a curated foundations weekend designed specifically for absolute beginners. Over three days, you will build your confidence using the acclaimed Goldieknots kits, featuring wool from Tammy’s own Montana flock.

Beyond the classroom, the Nome Schoolhouse is your sanctuary. We offer ample space and cozy nooks throughout the building—perfect for curling up in a quiet corner to keep working on a project or gathering with new friends in our common areas.

The attendees will complete three of Tammy's kits during this retreat.

Basket Weaving the
Tote-it Nome Basket

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2026
The natural and smoke colors are precut and ready for  weaving. Participants will select the accent color(s) during 
class. Although the basket will be completed during class,  the Cherokee Wheels may have to be finished at home. Participants will learn to lay out a base, weave a locking 
row, weave start and stop rows, weave Cherokee Wheels as accents, and rim the basket with 30” leather handles. 
The dimensions of this tote basket are approximately 7” x 
12” x 12” high.
